The establishment of a secondary vocational school of engineering in the valley below Sninský kameň in the Vihorlat Mountains demanded life itself. In and around Snina, mechanical engineering was expanding production, the local company Vihorlat was established, and therefore the education of secondary schools was the necessary technical staff. The Secondary Industrial School of Mechanical Engineering in Snina was founded and dated of the charter is July 1, 1960. A school was established, from which experts flowed not only to local Vihorlat but also to its plants in Michalovce, Medzilaborce, and Sobrance, to the Vojany Power Plant, and to engineering plants as well as to the more distant one surroundings, especially to VSŽ Košice.
