CLUSTER KOŠICE IT VALLEY HAS PREPARED FOR THIS SCHOOL YEAR A SERIES OF SEMINARS FOR SECONDARY SCHOOLS WITH THE TITLE “STEP BY STEP – FROM IDEA TO PRODUCT, ” WHICH ARE INTENDED FOR STUDENTS AND TEACHERS
The goal of Košice IT Valley is to create suitable conditions for IT development and thus improve the quality of life in eastern Slovakia. Educational institutions are a fundamental unit in the ecosystem, which the association has supported for 14 years. Acquisition of the so-called future skills is a prerequisite for students’ future employment in the labor market. At the same time, the decisive factor will be the “universality” of skills and technical proficiency. To this end, Košice IT Valley has prepared the project Step by Step – From Idea to Product, intended for secondary vocational and industrial schools in the Košice and Prešov self-governing regions. The partner of Step by Step – From idea to product is the company GlobalLogic Slovakia, which provided the content of the seminars.
“In our company, we are fully aware of the gaps that graduates have after graduation, and thus our social responsibility to participate in the completion of knowledge. Therefore, we are very active in educating teachers and students. Teachers also collaborated to prepare the content of the series of these seminars, for which they also deserve thanks and respect. A series of 4 seminars is focused on creating a product plan, acceptance criteria, testing up to the actual deployment of the solution on your server. During the meeting, the installation of RPi HW (Linux is used as the server operating system), the deployment of the operating system and its configuration, up to the actual programming of the product. The series also includes training to gain presentation skills. The ability to present oneself, work professionally, and the product is a vital aspect of a project on which its success often depends.
The goal of Step by Step: From idea to product is to present the complex structure of the project in the IT company, focusing mainly on the activities in the various phases of the project and the tools they use. In addition, this initiative aims to deepen students’ interest in IT and make available to teachers the tools used in practice. The first school to complete the Step by Step project – From Idea to Product is Joint School Kollárová 17, Sečovce.
“We recommend students, but also school principals who care about the employment of their students, not to be afraid to embark on programs that are aimed at acquiring project and programming skills. It is not about students becoming real programmers but rather about getting a programming mindset. This will later help them understand the challenges of a rapidly changing world, mainly through digitization, automation, and robotics, gradually introducing them into jobs.
