Aneta Hubáčková gave us a tour of their modern offices, and within the first few minutes it became clear that behind the TPA logo, there is much more than numbers, spreadsheets, and audits.
Petra Tobáková, Accounting & Advisory Manager, told us that TPA operates in twelve European countries. In Slovakia, the company has offices in Košice, Bratislava, and Banská Bystrica and employs around 150 professionals. They provide clients with audit, tax advisory, accounting, payroll, digital services, and comprehensive business advisory.
Their story goes even further back. The global Baker Tilly network was founded in the United Kingdom and today connects professionals in more than 140 countries worldwide. TPA itself was established as an independent company in Austria in 1979 and has been operating in Slovakia since 1996. This allows the company to combine international know-how with a deep understanding of the local business environment.
Values
During our visit, however, we spoke far more about values than about numbers. TPA has long been supporting organisations that are making society a better place. They provide accounting or audit services to around twenty non-profit organisations at significantly reduced fees. Every year, they allocate approximately €60,000 in payroll costs to these services, while also actively encouraging their clients to direct their 2% tax contributions to organisations that create genuine social impact and long-term systemic change.
The team also invests its energy not only in clients and organisations but in young people as well. TPA professionals serve as mentors in school competitions, support the development of entrepreneurship, digital and accounting skills, as well as creative thinking among secondary school and university students, and help bridge the gap between education and real business practice.
When a Company Grows, Bigger Ambitions Alone Are Not Enough
TPA is expanding its Košice offices by adding an entire new floor covering approximately 250 square metres. Juraj Tobák, Partner at TPA GetFinDone, showed us the premises, which will soon become a new workplace accommodating around eighty colleagues across both floors. The new space will include meeting rooms with movable walls, shared areas, and collaborative workspaces designed to support teamwork.
When our conversation turned to artificial intelligence, Juraj’s answer was straightforward.
“We’re not afraid of AI. On the contrary, we’re using it to make our work more efficient.”
It is not very common for an accounting company to have its own IT team, but at TPA, it is a natural part of the business. Thanks to automation, they are able to process enormous volumes of data and deliver solutions to clients that simply would not be possible manually.
More than thirty people work in the GetFinDone department, processing tens of millions of accounting transactions every year. Instead of pricing their services based on the number of accounting entries, they focus on value, time, and efficiency. In their view, automation does not replace people. It frees them to focus on work that delivers greater added value.
Around 60% of GetFinDone’s clients are e-commerce companies. That is also why Juraj regularly attends conferences and industry events where he meets entrepreneurs from this sector. With a smile, he admits that he suffers from “pleasant FOMO” and rarely turns down a good opportunity. These opportunities continue to bring the company further growth, new projects, and the need to expand the team.
If Accounting Doesn’t Work, Neither Does the Business
At TPA, they see the results of their work very clearly. Based on their experience, companies they help set up with the right processes often grow to two or even three times their original size within just three years.
That efficiency is much more than just a buzzword was something we saw firsthand. Their offices feature a live dashboard displaying the current status of work, how many invoices have been received, how many have already been approved by clients, and how each team is progressing. It is a form of motivation that truly works. If someone notices in the morning that they are falling behind in the rankings, they know they are in for a long day 🙂
The office walls are decorated with unique auctioned posters featuring powerful messages from Slovak culture. One of the meeting rooms is adorned with a large-format painting created not by a famous artist, but by the entire team during a company teambuilding event. It has become a symbol of collaboration that perfectly reflects the company’s culture.
We left with the feeling that TPA is about much more than finance. We are proud to have members like this in our cluster, companies with a strong sense of patriotism and a genuine desire to help people grow.
