Košice IT Valley has been developing young talent for the fifth consecutive year through the Lab IT Creativity 2.0 project. In cooperation with schools, universities, and IT companies, it supports digital, technical, and entrepreneurial skills. Activities implemented together with the Slovak Business Agency engaged more than 160 students from 17 secondary schools.

Slovakia has long faced a shortage of qualified labor and a continuing outflow of talent abroad. The latest data from the Central Office of Labor, Social Affairs and Family (ÚPSVaR) and the Košice IT Valley survey confirm that foreign workers play an increasingly important role in maintaining the competitiveness of Slovak companies.

The MedTech Day 2026 conference in Košice highlighted the potential of Eastern Slovakia to become a hub for healthcare innovation. By connecting hospitals, universities, startups, and tech companies, the initiative aims to accelerate digital solutions, support research, and create globally competitive MedTech projects.

Hockey and the IT sector in Košice once again joined forces. The match between HC Košice and HK Nitra at Steel Aréna brought together hundreds of IT employees and their families. The goal was to support the team and show that the IT community stands united in business and in the stands.

Artificial intelligence is already part of everyday school reality and is transforming education. The Zborovňa conference, organized by Košice IT Valley, brought together educators, experts, and ministry representatives who agreed that digital transformation is inevitable. However, schools need clear guidelines and practical support to use AI meaningfully and safely.

The final of the 11th edition of Živé IT projekty 2026 took place on February 4 in the Aula Maxima at the Technical University of Košice. A total of 80 teams and 360 students worked for four months on IT solutions for real clients under the guidance of mentors. The winning team developed a platform for analyzing rental apartments for the Slovak Rental Agency and will present the project at the international INVESTech Skills 2026 final in Cyprus.

Small and medium-sized entrepreneurs are forced to face a multitude of constantly emerging technological challenges. The question of how technological trends are transforming business, not only in eastern Slovakia, was the central theme of the Innovation Within Reach – Digital (R)evolution conference. It was organized by the EDIH Cassovium consortium, which consists of three key institutions operating in eastern Slovakia: the Technical University of Košice, Pavol Jozef Šafárik University in Košice, and Košice IT Valley.

Hockey and the IT sector in Košice have joined hands once again. During the home game of HC Košice against HC MONACObet Banská Bystrica, 2,200 employees of IT companies, along with their families, gathered at Steel Arena. The goal? To support their favorite team, build a strong community, and demonstrate that the IT sector in Košice knows how to pull together.

Live IT Projects is an exceptional educational concept that represents a new level of cooperation between universities and practice. The output is usually software prototypes, including information systems, websites, mobile applications, cloud solutions and intelligent interfaces. The organisers are currently working on the 10th edition of the event and have prepared a grand finale for the competing students, in their own words.
