Slovakia has long faced a shortage of qualified labor and a continuing outflow of talent abroad. The latest data from the Central Office of Labor, Social Affairs and Family (ÚPSVaR) and the Košice IT Valley survey confirm that foreign workers play an increasingly important role in maintaining the competitiveness of Slovak companies. However, they also point to significant regional disparities, the untapped potential of foreign students, and persistent systemic barriers.
Companies and institutions are faced with the question of how to maintain competitiveness while ensuring enough people for key positions. One way is to open up more to foreign labor and better understand what kind of potential employees are coming to Slovakia and what professions they can apply for.
