Siemens Healthineers is a leader in medical innovation and a key employer in the eastern Slovakia region. We are proud to have such a company in our cluster.
Košice as a Center of Expertise and Growth
Siemens Healthineers has offices in Bratislava, Žilina, and Košice. The Košice branch is currently the largest in Slovakia. Approximately 660 employees work in a modern building, and for the past three years, the site has also included a production hall. The expertise of local teams, steady growth, and high-quality infrastructure create ideal conditions for the development and support of cutting-edge technologies delivered to hospitals around the world.
During our recent visit, we were guided by Juraj Bujňák, Petronela Bajusová, Jana Petreková, Pavol Strýček, and Marek Sabol, who prepared a presentation about the company. The meeting offered valuable insight into the company’s operations and background.
X ray Technologies and Reliability That Saves Lives
At Siemens Healthineers, we learned more about the development and production process of X ray hardware, with components manufactured in various countries while the core technology is developed in Germany. This technology is especially beneficial in the diagnosis of immobile patients, where accuracy, speed, and reliability are essential.
Education as Part of the Company’s DNA
Siemens Healthineers places strong emphasis on cooperation with students and the development of young talent. Each year, the Košice branch offers full time work opportunities to around ten students, many of whom continue their careers within the company.
One example is Petronela, who joined the company as a student and whom we also know from her internship at Košice IT Valley. Today, she is a full time employee. In addition to job opportunities, Siemens Healthineers enables students to obtain professional certifications. Several have advanced by as many as three career levels since joining, representing genuine career growth.
From Marek Sabol’s presentation, it became clear that Siemens Healthineers in Košice is systematically building its own talent ecosystem through the Summer Development Academy, which has grown from a pilot initiative into an established development platform. More than half of the ServiceNow development team are its graduates, with some progressing to architect roles. In 2025, twelve students completed the academy and another seventy three enrolled in a new course at TUKE that the company helped create. Strong emphasis is placed on mentoring, practical skills, and technologies such as ServiceNow, which replaces older systems and opens new career opportunities. This approach fosters professional growth and long term connections between education and practice. The year 2025 brought record interest from students. While around twenty five applicants usually apply, this year there were fifty.
A Global Team with a Local Heart
The international structure of the company does not diminish its strong community spirit, which is evident across activities ranging from education and engineering to service teams. Siemens Healthineers has received the prestigious Great Place to Work award for the second consecutive year, confirming its exceptional corporate culture and employee satisfaction. This international certification demonstrates that even a global leader in healthcare technology can create an inspiring and stimulating work environment directly in Košice. Through its sense of responsibility and strong focus on people, the company sets an example for Košice IT Valley.
We are pleased to have such a partner in our community and look forward to projects that will shape not only our region, but also the world.
