Local Roots, Global Opportunities

Is it possible to build a successful career, work for international companies, and contribute to exciting projects without leaving your region? The discussion will bring inspiring stories to students showcasing people who prove that a fulfilling career and high quality of life can go hand in hand outside major cities.

As part of the international Danube4Rural project, Košice IT Valley, in cooperation with the City of Stropkov and the civic association Take naše, is organizing a discussion and lecture for students of the Konstantínova Grammar School in Stropkov.

The aim of the event is to show young people that today’s job market offers far more opportunities than it did just a few years ago. Thanks to digitalization, remote work, and the growing importance of technology-driven professions, people can work for companies based in Košice, Bratislava, or abroad while continuing to live in their local communities.

During the discussion, students will meet guests who have firsthand experience building their careers outside major urban centers. They will share their personal stories, challenges, and opportunities related to remote work, hybrid work, and returning to their home regions.

Together, we will explore topics such as:

  • What career and entrepreneurship opportunities are available today,
  • How remote and hybrid work function in practice,
  • Which skills are essential for success in the digital economy,
  • The advantages and challenges of working remotely,
  • Why a high-quality life and professional growth can be achieved outside large cities.

The event is intended for first- to third-year secondary school students and aims to inspire young people to see their region as a place full of opportunities and to think ambitiously about their future, regardless of where they come from.
