Report Women in Tech: Barriers to Acquiring Digital Skills

Through a comprehensive survey conducted within the Košice region, this study identifies key motivational factors, barriers to skill development, and the role of educational platforms in supporting women’s professional growth. It highlights the experiences of women at different career stages, offering valuable insights into the obstacles they encounter.

The digital transformation of industries worldwide has led to a growing demand for skilled professionals in the field of information and communication technologies (ICT). Despite the rapid increase in opportunities, women remain underrepresented in technical positions. This report explores the challenges women face in acquiring digital skills and transitioning into careers in the ICT sector.

By examining topics such as gender discrimination, lack of confidence, financial constraints, and time limitations, we were able to provide specific recommendations to support an inclusive and supportive educational environment. The findings can serve as a resource for policymakers, employers, and educational institutions in developing strategies to help women in IT and contribute to reducing gender disparities in the ICT sector.

The report was created with the support of the Center for International Private Enterprise as part of the “Women in Tech” project.
