Design in the Age of AI: What’s Changing and What’s Staying the Same

AI now enables us to turn ideas into functional products more easily and quickly than ever before. Does this mean the design process must change too? And how is the role of designers changing as a result? Using specific projects as examples, Dominika will show us how she has worked with AI, what worked, what problems she encountered and what she learnt in the process. We’ll look at how AI is changing the way we work and what is becoming even more important in design as a result.
Dominka has been working as a UX/UI Designer at Tatra banka for over three years. Her work has covered a range of areas – from projects and design systems to motion graphics, the 3D metaverse and, most recently, exploring AI. She is interested in development and has completed a course in front-end development and AI agents, which she also utilises in her work. Previously, she taught at a primary art school. She studied Digital Media and Fine Art at the Academy of Arts in Banská Bystrica.

Artificial intelligence is everywhere these days and promises to save us hundreds of hours of work. But what is the reality when we cut through the marketing hype and look at it through the eyes of someone with practical experience? Tomáš will tell us how not to go mad over AI and how to derive real benefit from it.
Tomáš has had a varied career. Some time ago, he swapped teaching and academia for the real world of research and process design. Today, as UXR Ops, he looks after the tools, documentation and everything else researchers need to do their jobs. He uses AI on a daily basis, but rather than blindly following trends, he tries to take a sober and practical view of it.
