EASTMED 2026 is a conference that brings togethermedicine, research, technology and business, and offers insights into how scientific knowledge and technological innovations can be transformed into products with a real impact on healthcare and society.
The main theme of the conference will bethe journey from research to market– from the initial scientific discovery, through product development and validation, to market launch, scaling up and further growth. We want to demonstrate that successful innovation does not arise in isolation in a laboratory, but at the intersectionof science, business, technology, capital and collaboration.
The conference will launch a discussion onwhat is needed to turn high-quality research into a competitive product and a successful business. We will focus on practical experience in technology transfer, the development of biomedical innovation, collaboration between universities and companies, and the decisions that influence a product’s commercial success.
Cooperation between the academic and business sectors will also be a key topic. We will look at what companies can realistically gain from universities – from specialist know-how and research capabilities to technologies and new opportunities for joint projects. At the same time, we want to highlight what universities and researchers need from companies to ensure that research findings reach beyond the confines of the laboratory.
EASTMED 2026 will also showcasethe potential of eastern Slovakia in the fields of MedTech and biomedical innovation. The aim is to showcase the region’s existing capabilities, expertise and opportunities, and to foster the creation of new links between universities, research institutions, companies, investors and other stakeholders in the ecosystem.
Finally, the conference will also look atthe future of healthcare– at the technologies, innovations and new opportunities that will transform the way healthcare is delivered, diagnosed and developed in the coming years.
EASTMED 2026 thus follows a single, common storyline:
research → product → market → collaboration → future
The conference programme will be updated on an ongoing basis.
