Košice IT Valley in cooperation with SAPIE is organizing a Business Inspiration Mission to Boston and New York (28 September - 2 October 2026). The program offers inspiration from top innovation ecosystems, visits to MIT or Cornell Tech and networking. For academics, public sector and SMEs.

Košice IT Valley in cooperation with SAPIE is preparing a professional business-inspiration mission to Boston and New York City.

The mission is supported by SARIO, Slovak PRO and Embassy of the Slovak Republic in the USA.

Mission Objective
The aim is to bring participants practical insights and inspiration from one of the most advanced innovation ecosystems in the world, with an emphasis on connecting academia, the public sector and the business community - especially SMEs.

Focus of the mission

  • innovation ecosystems and their functioning
  • technology transfer and university-practice cooperation
  • development of startups and their connection to corporations
  • business support from public institutions

What you will experience during the mission:

- MIT (Massachusetts Institute of Technology) - discussions with ecosystem creators such as Phil Budden on how innovation systems are designed and scaled
- A behind-the-scenes look at MIT labs - how research is turned into real-world applications and spin-offs
- Cambridge Innovation Center (CIC) - meet with startups and innovation managers to learn how corporations and startups work together in practice
- MIT Museum - understanding how breakthrough ideas are turning into global impact

- Cornell Tech (NYC) - how a modern technology campus connects education, startups and industry
- NYC Economic Development Corporation - specific policies and tools to foster innovation and attract investment
- Networking with the Slovak PRO community - direct contacts to Slovaks working in the US ecosystem
- Visits to companies (e.g. JPMorgan Chase, Amazon) - how large corporations work with innovation, partnerships and new technologies

Participation in the mission will bring you:

  • new partnerships and valuable contacts
  • proven models of collaboration between universities, startups and companies
  • concrete inspiration and practical suggestions for your further development

The deadline for applications is 20 April. Capacity is limited and participants will be selected on the basis of relevance and potential contribution.
