Survey results from the Zborovňa conference

As part of the Zborovňa conference, which was designed for STEM educators, we conducted a survey to gather participants opinions on current issues in technology and education.

Conference participants could take part in the survey by placing a sticker on a pre-prepared visualization, which was displayed in a visible area of the hall where networking took place. Each participant had the opportunity to vote in both surveys only once.

First Survey: The Most Important Skills of the Future

The first survey was based on categorical choices. Participants were asked to share their opinion on the question: “Which skills will be the most important in the future?” They could select one of five given options. The goal was to determine which skills today’s students should focus on the most.

A total of 52 out of 63 conference participants took part in this survey. The results, which we have processed digitally, revealed that:

  • 42% of respondents consider critical thinking and problem-solving to be the most important skill.
  • 25% of participants identified adaptability and the ability to adjust to change as the second most important skill.

Second Survey: Concerns About the Rise of AI

In the second survey, participants shared their opinions on the question:
“To what extent are you concerned about the rise of artificial intelligence and its use by students?”

Respondents could place their sticker on a scale ranging from “Not concerned at all” to “Very concerned.” A total of 47 conference participants took part in this survey.

The digitally processed results revealed that:

  • 38% of respondents positioned themselves in the middle of the scale.
  • Analyzing the remaining responses, the majority leaned towards not being concerned, with 20 participants expressing little to no concern, compared to 6 participants who indicated they were somewhat concerned.
  • Five participants took extreme positions, with a 4:1 ratio—four considering AI completely unproblematic, while one found it highly concerning.

The survey results confirm the need for the modernisation of education, which is also systematically addressed by the INVESTech project. This article was created as part of the project’s activities aimed at supporting the integration of innovations and new technologies into the educational process, of which we are a proud partner.
