Kosice region spreads across south-east of Slovakia. It is the second biggest region in terms of population and the fourth largest in terms of area. It borders with Hungary on the south, with Ukraine on the east, with Presov region on the north and Banska Bystrica region on the west. It consists of four historical regions – Spis, Gemer, Abov and Zemplin.
